 Golf at Currituck Club

Golf at The Currituck Club - Within a half mile of prestigious Currituck Club Golf Course, a Rees Jones designed 6888 yard, par 72 golf course awarded a spot on Golf Magazine's list of "Top 10 You Can Play." Golf Digest also ranked The Currituck Club as one of the Top 25 courses in North Carolina.  Rees Jones, 1995 Golf World Architect of the Year, created a natural, classic golf course that blends beautifully with the surrounding coastal landscape.

Corolla Beach LighthouseOn December 1, 1875 the beacon of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse filled the remaining "dark spot" on the North Carolina coast between the Cape Henry light to the north and Bodie Island to the south. To distinguish the Currituck Beach Lighthouse from other regional lighthouses, its exterior was left unpainted and gives today's visitor a sense of the multitude of bricks used to form the structure. The lighthouse was automated in 1939 when the United States Coast Guard assumed the duties of the Bureau of Lighthouses. At a height of 158 feet, the night beacon still flashes at 20-second intervals to warn ships hugging the chain of barrier islands along the coast.

The Whalehead Club at Currituck Heritage Park
Built in the mid-1920's, the Whalehead Club continues to stand as one of the most spectacular landmarks on the Currituck Outer Banks.  Owners, Edward Collings and Marie Louise Knight traveled to Corolla from points north and used Corolla Island as their winter residence from 1925-34.  Boasting art nouveau architectural styling and accented with Tiffany lamps, cork-tiled floors, brass duck head and water lily hardware, this magnificent structure stood isolated for years on these remote barrier islands and has been fully restored.
